Why use Pay by Bank?
Requesting payment via Pay by Bank is preferable to taking card payments as collecting card payments is expensive. Healthcare practices are charged card processing fees, which can range from 0.5-3% per transaction. It adds up quickly, with many clinics paying £1000s a year. In contrast, every time you use Pay by Bank you save your practice money and help the clinic put its funds to better use (i.e., growing the business!)
Requesting payment via Pay by Bank (automated BACS) is easy to use and simple for clients as it pre-populates all the payment information. The client simply needs to authorise the payment to your clinic. The whole process takes a few seconds and is easier than manually typing in the clinic’s bank details.
What should a clinic say if a client asks what Pay by Bank is?
This question might come up on occasion as clients are most familiar with manual bank transfer or card payment. We suggest you respond with something along the lines of:
“This is similar to a BACS payment; you are authorising an instant bank transfer from your account to ours. It is the most secure way to pay and only takes a few seconds.”
What should a clinic say if a client asks why they are being asked to pay this way?
We suggest saying something along the lines of:
“We are a small and growing clinic and have implemented a new method of payment that results in minimal payment processing fees compared to card payment. Payment is quick and easy (just like a bank transfer) and the most secure method of paying. I can walk you through it…”
